We Love Reading

At Ebchester CE Primary, we instil a love of reading in all of our children from their very first day in Reception. In the Infants, children have daily story times and, each term, there are up to twenty books which are read and repeated so that children can enjoy and build up familiarity with the texts. These texts cover a range of genres including classic and modern fiction, poetry, biography, cookery books, books of facts, maps and atlases, and even books in French. 

In KS2, we want our children to develop a love of reading independently. In each year group, there is a list of fifteen books which can been carefully selected to cover a range of genres and interests and our intention is that each child will read ten books from their year group's list in each year.
